Dallas Wings Exercise Fourth-Year Option on Maddy Siegrist
Siegrist to Stay in Dallas Through 2026 as Wings Exercise Fourth-Year Option
The Dallas Wings have exercised the fourth-year rookie contract option on Maddy Siegrist, the team announced earlier today.
Heading into her third season, Siegrist has already carved out a key role in the Wings’ core and a big piece of their future. She took a big step forward in the 2024 season, putting up 9.4 points and 3.3 boards per game while shooting 50.5% from the field. The 24-year-old forward looked more confident and comfortable in her expanded role. When she missed time on the court (13 games) with a broken left index finger, it was clear how much the team missed her spacing and ball movement on the court.
Siegrist’s shift from being a top-tier college scorer to a dependable “glue player” in the WNBA has been a big part of her early success in the league and staying power in Dallas. At Villanova, she was the go-to option, dropping 24 a night over the course of her college career but in the league, she has embraced a more well-rounded game who can knock down shots, constant movement, and make smart plays without needing to dominate the ball.
“We are excited about exercising Maddy’s fourth-year contract option,” said Dallas Wings Executive Vice President and General Manager Curt Miller. “She is a big piece of the Wings future, has worked hard at her game and is poised to have an impressive year. Her versality to play multiple positions gives our team valuable flexibility within our roster.”
The ability to play multiple positions and unselfish manner gives the Wings flexibility in their lineups. With a new core that includes Arike Ogunbowale, Paige Bueckers, DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith, Siegrist complements the offensive firepower with attributes that doesn’t show in a stat sheet: efficient shooting, floor spacing, cutting, ball movement, positioning, hustle plays, and an evolving team defender.
Even though she’s been a scorer her whole life, the small things in the W stand out. For a franchise returning three players, including Siegrist, Dallas looks to turn promise into playoff wins. Siegrist is a quiet leader who has been taken under the wing of Ogunbowale, and is set to be a long-term investment who can help push the organization forward in a positive direction.
